PDF Viewer plugin: what it installs and how to add it

Opens, annotates, fills, and signs PDF documents in a live viewer, then exports the marked-up copy.

From the Marketplace: knowledge-work-plugins marketplace

Install

> /plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins> /plugin install pdf-viewer@knowledge-work-plugins

Run both lines inside Claude Code: the first adds the marketplace, the second installs the plugin.

About this plugin

The plugin provides an interactive viewer for local PDFs and direct HTTPS PDF links, including sources such as arXiv. Claude can propose highlights, notes, stamps, and form entries for review before changes are applied, then you can download the annotated document.

Use it for visual PDF workflows rather than simple text extraction. It requires Node.js 18 or later; remote PDFs also need an internet connection. A local MCP server starts automatically through npx, with no API key or remote service required. Signature placement is visual and is not a certified or cryptographic e-signature.
