About this skill
What it does. Provides a hash-attack playbook covering length extension, MD5 and SHA-1 collisions, birthday and meet-in-the-middle attacks, HMAC timing leaks, password cracking and proof-of-work solving. It explains attack selection, padding, defensive comparisons, password salts and tools such as HashPump, fastcoll, hashcat and John the Ripper.
When to use it. For CTF challenges and authorised security assessments involving weak hash constructions or implementations. It distinguishes attacks that do not apply to HMAC, SHA-3, truncated hashes and newer constructions.
