About this skill
What it does. Identifies encodings such as Base64, hex, binary and Morse before measuring frequencies and index of coincidence. It guides attacks on Caesar, substitution, Vigenere, affine, Hill, transposition, Bacon, Polybius, Playfair and XOR ciphers using Python, known plaintext and tools such as xortool.
When to use it. For CTF ciphertext requiring identification, decoding or classical cryptanalysis. Modern symmetric ciphers, hashes and lattice-based cryptography are routed to other techniques.
